Brianna Aguilera‘s cause of death has been confirmed by the medical examiner.
In case you need a refresher, back in November 2025, the Texas A&M student became the topic of headlines when she tragically died after falling off a 17th story balcony. She was just 19 years old at the time of her death, and had just attended a tailgate for her school’s football game. Her mom Stephanie Rodriguez even said her daughter was looking forward to her future in a law career, so when cops ruled her death a probable suicide, nothing was adding up to her family. She seemed like a normal, happy teen.
Despite reports of a deleted suicide note found on her cell phone, and even suggestions that she’d made suicidal comments to her friends a month prior to her death, Brianna’s family continued to fight the narrative that her death was a suicide. But now, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially made their ruling.
They said in reports late last week, per multiple local outlets, that Brianna did, in fact, die by suicide. They listed her cause of death as “blunt force trauma,” with her entire autopsy pending release. So, so heartbreaking.

Stephanie and the rest of the teen’s family still isn’t convinced, though. In a statement to People, the grieving mother said:
“My thoughts haven’t changed when it comes to, in regards to the cause of death, the manner of death, of course, they were going to rule it a suicide. They were just trying to buy time.”
As for her $1 million civil suit against Austin Blacks Rugby Club and the University of Texas Latin Economics and Business Association, she said it’ll still be continuing:
“Our lawyers … are very well aware of the ruling, but we still are going to move forward with the civil suit case so we can get those roommates that were there with my daughter that night to talk because no one has come forward.”
Of course, this suit was filed on the grounds of wrongful death, as Stephanie maintains neighbors heard shouting at the time of Brianna’s devastating fall. Her family believes this could point to a more sinister explanation.
Stephanie wrapped up her statement:
“The investigation and Austin PD has died down. Of course, we knew from the beginning they weren’t going to do anything else. They just didn’t like the backlash from the public and yeah, just, I am still not supporting 100% at all that this was a suicide.”
