Chrissy Teigen has revealed why she was in hospital after she concerned fans by appearing on an Instagram Live with a bandaged-up face.
Posting to her Instagram Story on Friday, May 23, Teigen, 39, shed light on why she was in a hospital bed, bandaged up and with what appeared to be a swollen face.
“Hi friends! A lot of you worried about my hospital pic which is very understandable as I gave no explanation lol,” she wrote via her social media post.
She continued: “I had a hairline lowering procedure. Lost a lot in the front from babies and it’s just very thin up there. When you see it on a carpet, it’s ALWAYS extensions.”

In the post, Teigen had zoomed in on her hairline to show part of the procedure.
Teigen promised to further elaborate on the experience in future.
“Anyhow I’ll share more later if you’re interested in the journey because it really is a journey,” she wrote.
The explanation comes just one day after the former Sports Illustrated model left fans scratching their heads when she appeared on Instagram Live with bandages around her head.

Given the reason she was in hospital was unclear at that point, fans watching on were worried about the star and expressed their concern.
“You okay?” one follower asked, while another commented, “Surgery face, oh girl.”
Teigen has been candid in the past about her cosmetic surgeries and procedures.
In 2021, the cookbook author revealed via her Instagram Story that she had undergone “fat removal” surgery on her face.

“I did that Dr. Diamond buccal fat removal thing here,” Teigen explained via her Instagram Story, pointing to her cheek. “And since I quit drinking, I’m really seeing the results, and I like it. Yeah, I did it, what?”
Teigen captioned the video, “No shame in my dr diamond game.”
Speaking to Glamour UK in March 2020, Teigen also shared details of why she opted for a breast augmentation surgery when she was about 20 years old.

“It was more for a swimsuit thing,” she told the outlet at the time. “I thought, if I’m going to be posing, laid on my back, I want them to be perky!”
Teigen noted that having children made her think differently about her implants. (Teigen and husband John Legend share daughter Luna, 9, son Miles, 7, daughter Esti, 2, and son Wren, 1.)
“Then you have babies and they fill up with milk and deflate and now I am screwed,” she added.
