Country singer Rory Feek has found his happily ever after again with his daughter’s school teacher, eight years after the passing of his wife.
The singer, 59, gushed about his July 14 nuptials in a blog post dedicated to the event held in Greycliff, Montana, sharing how the journey to his second marriage began.
“Rebecca and I had committed to be together. To choose each other and see where it might lead. And although we knew marriage was a possibility, it wasn’t something that either of us felt like we could seriously talk about,” he shared.

“Mostly because up until that time Indiana only saw Rebecca as ‘Miss Rebecca’ her schoolteacher and our friend. And although she had become much more than that to me, I was very careful to let Indy ‘figure it out’ on her own. And honestly, I wasn’t really sure if she ever could, or would, at all.”
He explained that both he and his partner were conscious of his daughter Indiana, 10, especially since they had suffered the loss of her mother Joey in 2016, after a two year battle with cervical and colorectal cancer.
“Her love for her Mama is so great and so big in her life. Neither Rebecca or I wanted to hurt that in any way…. And so we just waited and watched to see if it might ever occur to Indiana that Rebecca could be more than just a friend to her Papa, and to her.”

Eventually, it did. In fact, Feek said the marriage was all Indiana’s idea.
One day in late March, Rebecca had dropped by the Feek’s house to pick up Indiana to take her to school, as she usually did. But a few minutes after the left the house, they had walked back in.
“Rebecca said, ‘Rory, Indiana just asked me something that I think you need to hear’,” the singer recalled.

“I asked Indy, and she told me that she said, ‘Ms Rebecca, I think you should marry Papa’… Of course, I was happy, but caught off guard,
“And then Indy looked at me and said ‘and I told Miss Rebecca that my Mama’s been gone a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother…’.”
As they counted down the four months until the nuptials, Feek even decided to write a song for his soon-to-be wife, titled I Do.

But because he was so excited about the prospect of surprising his bride, he performed the song for his fans at one of his concerts, with the singer having “put my fingers over my lips and asked everyone to promise not to tell.”
Feek’s late wife Joey was also a singer, with the duo having performed as Joey+Rory. They wed in 2002.
Feek also has two daughters, Heidi, 38, and Hopie, 36, from his previous marriage to Tamara Gilmer, whom he split from in 1992.
