Craig Conover Planned to Propose to Paige DeSorbo Before Split

Craig Conover was reportedly ready to get down on one knee and propose to Paige DeSorbo before she confirmed their breakup on Monday.

One day after Paige, 32, of Summer House, revealed she had parted ways with the 35-year-old Southern Charm cast member after three years of dating, an insider has shared new information about Craig’s thoughts on their future, explained what went wrong in their relationship, and suggested their split was “long overdue.”

“Craig was ready for the next steps and had plans to propose to Paige. He was really pushing for the next steps and wanted to settle down with her,” a source told Us Weekly on December 31.

But unfortunately, their living arrangement, with Paige in New York City and Craig in Charleston, South Carolina, got in the way of them moving forward.

“Paige does not want to move to Charleston, and logistically it was never going to work out long term,” the insider explained. “Many of their friends are not shocked at all, but everyone is sad for them.”

Although the source said Craig and Paige’s friends were “not shocked” by the breakup, Craig seemed confident about their future just months ago.

“We’re going to get married one day,” he told Us Weekly in October. “But she’s a really career-driven person and she’s doing great. And I’ve got the business that’s kind of flying right now, so we’re making the best of ourselves before coming together as a team officially.”

According to Craig, he and Paige were being patient with one another as they planned for the next steps.

“We’re in a great place, and fortunately, New York and Charleston are two awesome places to spend time. We just got to put the work in,” he explained.

Now, as they move on from their romance, the insider says they’re “on good terms,” noting that their split was “cordial,” although they’re both “very sad.”

“Paige initiated the conversation, but they both agreed it wasn’t going to work. Craig was really emotional,” the insider revealed. “There is still a lot of love between them, but they just weren’t on the same page … [and their] relationship ending was long overdue.”

“They had been having conversations about their future for months,” the insider added. “They were hopeful to get through the holidays, but Paige felt a lot of pressure. It had been rocky between them for months. Paige wanted to announce it because fans would notice them not being together for New Years.”

While Craig has not yet spoken out about the split, Paige’s pillow collection with his company, Sewing Down South, appears to have been removed from his store’s website. Although a link previously directed customers to “The Paige Collection,” that page is now blank.

“This page does not exist. Try searching for what you would like to find,” a message reads.
