David and Victoria Beckham have – for the first time ever – opened up about his affair allegations in 2003 that rocked their marriage, and the world.
At the time, his former assistant Rebecca Loos had claimed they had a months-long extra-marital affair. She had claimed that they had “connected” on a night out, but that the Beckhams had problems in their marriage long before then.
Soon after, Australian model Sarah Marbeck also came out with claims that she and the soccer star had exchanged sexually explicit messages for a period of two years.

The Beckhams denied everything and even threatened Loos with legal action.
Now, Victoria is opening up about the emotional toll it had on her and her relationship, sharing that “it was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us”, in the family’s new Netflix documentary, Beckham, due for release today.
“Here’s the thing – we were against each other if I’m being completely honest,” she said, as per The Sun.

At the time the rumours surfaced, David was located in Spain playing for Real Madrid, while Victoria remained in the UK with their young sons, Brooklyn and Romeo, then aged four and one respectively.
After the rumours began to erupt, Victoria decided to relocate to Spain to be by her husband’s side.
“You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other,” the 49-year-old said.

“But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either… And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare.
“It was an absolute circus – and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town right? Unless you’re in it,” she remarked.
When asked by producers whether she had resented her husband, she candidly admitted, “If I’m being totally honest, yes I did. It was the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.”

She added that she had ”internalised” the trauma so that she could support her husband’s career, insisting that she didn’t feel “unheard” at the time – rather that she was “always mindful of the focus that he needed.”
David also spoke on the matter, sharing that the ordeal affected his performance on the field, and that he felt “physically sick every day”.
“I don’t know how we got through it, in all honesty,” the 48-year-old said in the documentary.
