While the SAG-AFTRA strike is currently in negotiations to end, many fans are still expecting their favorite films and series to be delayed. However, it seems as though Deadpool 3 may maintain its release date, with Marvel Studios considering it a “top priority” to meet.
Once the SAG-AFTRA strike ends, there will be a rush from every studio to resume filming to try to avoid costly delays. While every company has its own priorities, Marvel Studios seems to view Deadpool 3 as its top one, hoping to maintain the release date for Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming MCU debut with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
It’s not a shock Marvel Studios would prioritize Deadpool 3 over projects like Thunderbolts. May is a prime release date for any film, and losing it may end up lessening the box office for one of the biggest MCU films in recent years. Between the paychecks for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds, and the delays caused by the strikes, maintaining a favorable release date may be one of the few ways for Marvel Studios to recoup costs.
Who else is attached to the Deadpool threequel?
Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 after working with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The upcoming Marvel Studios project also marks a reunion between Levy and Hugh Jackman as the two worked together on Real Steel.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the Deadpool 3 script after penning the first two installments in the series. The Molyneux sisters worked on a previous draft of the project.
Deadpool 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 8, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
