Deadpool and Wolverine may have had the perfect variant! Concept art for the film gives fans fresh looks at the comic-accurate suit donned by Hugh Jackman.
The montage of trying to recruit the perfect variant in Deadpool and Wolverine is one of the most fun sequences in any Marvel film. While most fans were captivated by the surprise cameo from a beloved actor, others were captivated by Hugh Jackman losing a few inches to become the comic-accurate short king that is Wolverine. New concept art gives fans a look at the initial visualization of the gag.
Judging by the face, it’s possible Hugh Jackman wasn’t always meant to play this variant in Deadpool and Wolverine. However, it could just be the artist Ryan Meinerding, who’s the Head of Visual Development at Marvel Studios, just took the opportunity to make Jackman look a bit uglier than the adonis that he usually is.
Hugh Jackman Gets A Comic-Accurate Suit In Deadpool And Wolverine
Yet, getting a short variant of Hugh Jackman was far from the only comic-accurate thing to come out of Deadpool and Wolverine. The actor rocked multiple comic-accurate Wolverine looks, like the John Byrne-inspired brown and yellow suit, and another costume with Marvel’s X-Men color scheme. Concept art for both has been released by Ryan Meinerding, and they look just as good as on the big screen!
Deadpool and Wolverine fed fans who have been begging for Hugh Jackman to do, well, anything comic-accurate over the past two decades in the role. It’s no fault of Jackman’s, of course, but rather those who controlled his Marvel hero. So it’s a relief that, through the power of the variant, the actor was finally able to do what fans have been dreaming of.
