9Honey Celebrity travelled to Seoul for the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour.
Hugh Jackman‘s been playing Wolverine for more than 20 years and thought he’d put the claws away for good after his character died in 2017’s Logan.
That is, until he got a call from Ryan Reynolds asking him to suit up one last time for Deadpool & Wolverine. He said yes.
“I’ve never been happier playing the role, and I’ve never been prouder of a Wolverine movie,” Jackman has now revealed at a press conference attended by 9honey Celebrity in Seoul, South Korea.

He only agreed to play Wolverine again because he trusted Reynolds and director Sean Levy to handle the character perfectly, and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
”This movie, doing it with Ryan and Sean, who happened to be two of my best friends in the world, this is a dream project,” Jackman said
“I’m so proud of how the film came out and so thrilled to be back playing a role that I didn’t think I would play again.”

He first donned the metal claws in the 2000 film X-Men, followed by several sequels and spin-offs, all culminating in the character’s widely-applauded send-off in Logan.
After that film’s release in 2017, it was assumed by just about everyone – Jackman included – that we’d never see him sporting Wolverine’s mutton chops again.
The only thing that convinced him to come back was the fact he knew Reynolds and Levy would do right by the character he’d been playing for over two decades.

“As someone who’s played a character for 25 years – this is my 10th film playing Wolverine – I know that these two, as writers and as producers, had so much of their heart and soul poured into making sure that this was a version of Wolverine that was the best yet,” Jackman told the crowd.
“And when I read the script […] I’ve never felt someone care as much about my character as me.”
The script had to get pretty creative with Wolverine’s character; he’s technically been dead since Logan‘s release in 2017, but Reynolds and Levy found a way around that little niggle.
Now Deadpool & Wolverine has given Jackman the chance to explore new sides of the character, but it’s actually not the first time he and Reynolds have shared the screen in these roles.
Both starred in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, where Reynolds portrayed a very different version of Deadpool to the one he plays now.
For starters, that version had no mouth.
The film didn’t receive great reviews and Reynolds recently said a lot of the “misfires” in that flick were due to “studio mandates”.
Now he and Jackman are hoping to deliver what Origins didn’t with the violent, hilarious Deadpool and Wolverine crossover film fans have been begging for for years.

It helps that he and Jackman both exude charisma and are best mates off-screen too, though their characters don’t quite get along at the start of the film.
“It was] punching him in the face a lot,” Jackman joked, to which Reynolds added: “You express love with your claws.”
Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine opens in Australia and New Zealand on July 25.
