It looks like another legendary X-Men star might be on her way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During a recent chat, Alan Cumming, who plays Nightcrawler, may have let slip that Halle Berry’s Storm could appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
We already know that Doomsday is pulling together a stacked roster of Marvel veterans. Confirmed returning X-Men include James Marsden’s Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, and Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier. It makes sense that Berry’s Storm would also come back.
When Entertainment Tonight asked Cumming about Berry possibly returning as Storm, his response raised some eyebrows.
“Well, maybe she does.”
He quickly followed it up with a walk-back, saying:
“I don’t… but honestly, I’m the last person to ask.”
This isn’t the first time Cumming has potentially spilled something big about Doomsday. Earlier this year, he recounted a stunt rehearsal that seemed to confirm he shares the screen with The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Pedro Pascal.
“I was learning stunts yesterday for some fight scene and I’m thinking, ‘I’m 60 years old. 23 years ago, I played that superhero. I was kind of old for a superhero even then.
“And now I’m back doing it. That, to me, is hilarious. I’m sort of learning these fights and I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ And they said, ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,’ or something.”
Whether or not Berry shows up, Avengers: Doomsday is already massive. Alongside the returning mutants, the film also features the Thunderbolts cast, the rest of the Fantastic Four, and MCU heavy-hitters like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, and Letitia Wright’s Shuri. To top it all off, Robert Downey Jr. is stepping into the role of Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Before then, Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2025.
