Tucked into a cascading compound of retail therapy, high fashion, and culinary excellence lies a taste of Seville in Los Angeles’ Century City Mall. Casa Dani.
A living, breathing, testament to traditional Andalusian fare with dishes as rebellious as Goya’s Los Caprichos or Dali’s Un Chien Andalou. The restaurant itself is a Terracotta-laden Spanish Modern lounge of sorts with its own exergonic glow that succeeds in cultivating a welcoming aesthetic. Home to authentic Spanish food and two Michelin-starred chefs, Dani García and Josiah Citrin.
Our meal started with the Ibérico Ham Croquetas, creamy béchamel topped with cinco jotas Iberian ham. Each bite was tastier than the last.
The Oxtail Brioche is a slow-braised oxtail cooked to perfection, layered with Dani’s secret Bull Sauce, and nestled between two pillowy brioche buns. Succulent and not too brackish.
A single taste of Chef Dani’s iconic Tuna Porterhouse Carpaccio reveals a signature dish that will immediately take you to the Maestranza de Seville. Top-tier tuna slices served in extra virgin olive oil. Pairs great with a Grand Cru red.
La Fiesta Mediterranean (paccheri with scallops, lobster, and blue prawns) is sure to please with a fresh and balanced taste.
The final dish was the 10oz Wagyu Flat Iron steak with roasted Anaheim pepper and finished with a green pepper-garlic emulsion. A traditional Basque feast. Tender and flavorful.
With a light, creamy, and caramelized exterior and a rich, custardy center, the Basque Cheesecake was the perfect nightcap. Like all the other dishes, it left an aftertaste like a calling card reminding us to return. Book your reservation at Casa Dani by SBE.
