Come to the heart of K-Town with us as we explore the vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant, Olivia.
Whether you’re a pasta lover, need your fill of daily veg, or are on the hunt for a fantastic pizza, Olivia has you covered. This cosy restaurant is filled with personal touches and an airy ambiance that make it the perfect destination for friendly gatherings. Plus, if a vegan and vegetarian restaurant in K-Town didn’t already peak your interest you should know that Anderson .Paak is an investor there. He was a big believer in Olivia’s owner Dan’s vision for the space, so you just never know…dinner with Anderson .Paak? It’s possible, he does drop in from time to time. Now, let us dig into what we tried so you’d have the best tips we can provide for what to order when you pop in for dinner.

We kicked off our meal with Olivia’s fried olives. If you only eat one thing, this is it. As natural born olive lovers we could hardly maintain our excitement for this appetizer to arrive, and it did not disappoint. This appetizer is vegan and the fried olives come in a bed of whipped macadamia ricotta, and it is delicious. The smooth fluffy texture melts in your mouth and brings a smooth and tasty flavor profile to the appetizer as the rest of the dish is paired with honey truffle and Aleppo pepper. It has a bit of a kick but nothing overbearing.

Needing something green in our order we also selected Olivia’s Farmer Market Vegetables. And yes, they are actually from local farmer’s markets. The chef and owner both dedicate their time to searching for seasonal ingredients which means the menu does change a bit depending on what is available. But, we love local produce and you could really taste the freshness in every bite. The vegetables were lightly tossed in olive oil with white wine and sherry vinegar. Simple, yet so delicious.

One of the restaurant’s most popular dishes is their Jackfruit Barbacoa Fruit Fusili. Of course we had to order it, and the portion is quite large which makes it a perfect dish for sharing with a group. The dish is served with slow cooked jackfruit, asparagus, confit tomato and a dollop of ricotta to top off the lovely presentation of the pasta. You can ask for no ricotta if you’re vegan, but we were glad we aren’t because the ricotta created another incredible layer of flavor and texture to the dish which really elevated its profile.

Pizza pizza! This is where we went wild and had alot of fun trying different combinations. Olivia Restaurant isn’t afraid to put a pizza on the menu and jazz up this Italian staple with unlikely ingredients. The resulting fusion of flavors was so much fun getting to try. Our personal favorite was the mushroom pizza. It comes with a variety of mushroom flavors and we couldn’t of been happier to have leftovers we were able to enjoy the next day, thats how tasty it was. Let’s review shall we?
The mushroom pizza features trumpet and oyster mushrooms in a truffle oil with tallegio asiago. A true chef’s kiss. We’re still dreaming about this one.
The next pizza we tried was their Aloo Curry. Yes, you read that right, curry on a pizza! It was really fun and honestly tasted like a naan bread under a bed of delicious curry, that had been shaped into a pizza with a perfect crust to really finish off the effect. This pizza contained smoked potato, cauliflower, raita, and a special house blended curry powder. Warning, this pizza packs a punch.
Our last try of their creative pizza’s was the Green Bean Casserole. This dish is an American holiday staple. When we saw it on the menu, and the owner Dan told us it was new and not to be missed, we knew we had to try it. It really blew our expectations out of the water. Hear us out. You might not think pizza and green bean casserole make a match made in foodie heaven, but we’d urge you to give this a go before deciding on your verdict. We really loved it. It might honestly be one of the most creative and well fused ideas we’ve had here. This pizza is served with haricot vert, mushrooms, and breadcrumbs. And! It’s vegan! Yep. And we still give it a 10/10. Fantastic taste all around.
