The duo goes searching for a Hutt
After releasing a Super Bowl commercial that had nothing to do with the forthcoming movie and everything to do with celebrating Super Bowl ads, Disney has finally released a true trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The footage highlights some pretty noticeable Star Wars staples: the iconography of an X-Wing in flight against a sunset, a bunch of buttons and lever-pulling in the cockpit of a spacecraft, and the classic Star Wars overtures that score it all. It sounds like Mando is on a bounty mission in search of a specific Hutt, a gangster who appears to be in league with the Empire, which could ignite another war.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau, who co-wrote the movie with Dave Filoni. It stars Pedro Pascal as titular Mandalorian Din Djarin, Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, Sigourney Weaver as Ward, and Jonny Coyne as an Imperial Warlord. Ludwig Göransson is also returning to score the film sequel to the Disney Plus TV series.
The Mandalorian, which debuted in 2019, follows a lone bounty hunter navigating the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the New Republic, protecting a mysterious Force-sensitive child known as Grogu. The series streams on Disney Plus and currently has three seasons, with no news of a fourth in sight, according to former star Katy O’Brien.
The movie hits theaters on May 22.
