Disney is stepping onto the baseball diamond in a whole new way. On September 24, Topps released the Chrome Disney Trading Card Set, a first-of-its-kind crossover that combines Major League Baseball with beloved Disney and Pixar characters.
The set packs in a 200-card Chrome base collection with fan-favorite Disney and Pixar characters, plus extras like hand-drawn sketch cards and even authentic actor autographs.
But the biggest highlight is the official MLB trading card debut of Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck, who will be rocking real Major League uniforms for the first time.
“Disney’s Mickey and Friends are showing up in exciting and surprising places we love — bringing fans together for memorable moments,” said Paul Gitter, executive vice president of global brand commercialization at Disney Consumer Products, in an interview with Variety.
“The Topps Disney collaboration with Major League Baseball fuses storytelling, sports fandom and the enduring appeal of our iconic characters across all audiences.”
Each Disney icon will represent divisions within the league. Mickey holds it down for the AL and NL West, Goofy takes the East, and Donald handles the Central.
To keep things fresh, they’ll rotate divisions every year, creating a long-term collectible chase for fans. For 2025, the trio will appear in home jerseys, while away uniforms are slated to arrive later this year in the Topps Chrome Update Baseball series.
Collectors will have options at different price points: Hobby Boxes at $420, Mega Boxes at $70, and Value Boxes at $40, all available through Topps.com.
This collaboration fits right into the nostalgia-fueled wave sweeping the collectibles market, where heritage brands are teaming up with cultural icons to hook long-time collectors while drawing in new fans.
With Disney approaching its 100th anniversary and MLB constantly looking for new ways to expand its reach, the Topps Chrome Disney Trading Card Set feels like a home run for both sides.
