The biggest animated movie of 2026 just proved it doesn’t need theaters to dominate anymore. Disney+’s newest No. 1 film continues a record-breaking streak that shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.
Toy Story 5 continues to top Disney+ streaming charts after debut
Pixar’s Toy Story 5 maintains its position atop the Disney+ streaming charts in the United States. According to FlixPatrol data for October 6, 2026, the film holds the No. 1 spot on both the platform’s overall and movies rankings. The animated sequel first arrived on Disney+ on September 23, 2026, following its theatrical run.
The film earned over $1.148 billion at the global box office before transitioning to streaming. Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released it for digital purchase on August 18, 2026, ahead of its Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD release on September 22. Its streaming debut came just one day after its physical media launch.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, the film follows Jessie and the other toys as they confront a tablet named Lilypad. The sequel explores children increasingly choosing screens over traditional playtime. Stanton previously described the film as a “realisation of an existential problem: that nobody’s really playing with toys any more.”
Toy Story 5 holds a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 328 reviews. Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave it an “A” grade, matching most of its predecessors. The film also received an Astra Midseason Movie Awards nomination for Best Picture.
The movie features Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack reprising their roles alongside newcomers. Greta Lee voices the tablet character Lilypad, while Conan O’Brien plays a toilet training toy named Smarty Pants. Taylor Swift contributed the original song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
At the film’s June premiere, Stanton hinted at a potential trilogy centered on Bonnie’s story arc.
