On her daytime show, The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew Barrymore recently floated an inspired idea: remaking the 1992 dark comedy Death Becomes Her—and she’s not backing down!
She wants to team up with longtime collaborators Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, forming a trio that fans have long hoped to see share the same screen. Barrymore joked they had even tossed around the idea of remaking Three’s Company on air, but emphasized she’s “really bullish on Death Becomes Her.”
Barrymore and Sandler share a beloved on-screen history, from The Wedding Singer to 50 First Dates. Sandler and Aniston have also become a popular on-screen duo with hits like Murder Mystery and its sequel. Barrymore and Aniston co-starred in He’s Just Not That Into You back 2003, yet a film featuring all three together has yet to materialize.
The 1992 original film, directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, and Isabella Rossellini, is beloved for its dark satire and sharp performances. Despite being nearly thirty years old, the cult film’s influence continues. There’s even a Broadway musical adaptation currently running!
With the influence of Barrymore, Sandler and Aniston, who are all producers with their own production companies, it might just be a matter of when then if, we’ll be seeing this reboot in the near future.
