Elle King has addressed the negative comments she made about her dad Rob Schneiderwas not trying to hurt him”.
Earlier this year, the singer opened up about Schneider’s parenting and their strained relationship on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast.
“I was, like, a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp,” she revealed at the time.
“And then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle, and I didn’t lose any weight. Very toxic and very silly.”

The Ex’s & Oh’s singer added that there were “four or five years” where the pair didn’t speak to one another.
Schneider, 60, later admitted he had not been the father his daughter needed him to be while speaking in a preview on The Tucker Carlson Show podcast.
Now, King, 35, has spoken to People about the response to her comments.
“I never in a million years thought that that was going to go viral. I was just speaking about my childhood and about my truth,” she said.
“I was not trying to hurt him.”

Regardless of the attention that swarmed her comments, King doesn’t regret revealing her opinion.
“A lot of people said, ‘How could she say that about her family?’ and ‘Everything needs to be behind closed doors.’ No, it doesn’t,” she told the magazine.

“Sometimes you have to just say things and get them off your chest so that you don’t have to carry it for the rest of your life.
“But ultimately, I think an apology on Tucker Carlson is like a double negative, right? Means nothing.”
In the original interview, King said she disagreed with her father’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights, which has since sparked a meaningful discussion about the community.
“What I will say is the best thing that came from that is that my incredible LGBTQ+ community knows that they have an ally in me,” she told the publication.

Schneider hasn’t addressed the new comments made against him.
