Television‘s annual night of nights is once again upon us… for the second time this year.
That’s right, the Primetime Emmy Awards have returned for their 76th iteration just months after Australia’s own Sarah Snook completely wiped the floor with everyone at the 75th ceremony.
Regardless of when it happens, the Emmys never fail to be just as entertaining – if not more than – as the shows, actors and creatives the event honours. Read on to keep up with all the most memorable Emmys 2024 moments as they happen.

Stars hit the red carpet – but not how you’d expect
Sure, it’s no VMAs, but sometimes stars do actually lean into the weird, wonderful and whacky when attending television’s glamorous night out.
That became apparent when Taiwanese-American drag performer Nymphia Wind stepped onto the Emmys red carpet… and the only reason we knew it was them was because their team informed photographers of such.
That’s right, the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16’s face was obscured by their elaborate outfit, but not for long.

Nymphia Wind posed for photographers on the red carpet in a banana outfit, before ‘unpeeling’ in front of the cameras.
The 29-year-old star – whose real name is Leo Tsao and who made history by becoming the first East Asian victor on the show – then exposed the embellished detail emphasising their figure on their green morph suit.

Australians vying for world television’s highest honour
Hollywood is feeling the thunder from Down Under, with Australian actresses Naomi Watts and Elizabeth Debicki both fighting for statuettes at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Watts scored an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series nomination for her role as Babe Paley in Feud: Capote vs The Swans.

It will be a bittersweet night for the actress, whose on-screen husband Treat Williams has also been nominated posthumously for his portrayal of William S. Paley, the famed television executive, in the series.
Watts’ real life husband Billy Crudup also scored a nod, being nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Morning Wars.

The biggest Emmy Awards snubs of all time
Why are there two Emmy Awards ceremonies in 2024?
Despite what this year’s calendar is telling us, the Emmy Awards are usually a once per year event.
Every September, the who’s who of the small screen flock to see which one of them will be proclaimed the best of the best of the last 12 months in television, in an annual ceremony that serves as the mainstream kick-off to awards season (sorry, MTV VMAs).
On January 15, 2024, however, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards were held – four months after its usual date.

Hollywood was four months into the writers’ and two months into the actors’ strikes, meaning the ceremony had to be pushed back several months.
Today’s 76th Primetime Emmy Awards means we’re back to our regularly-scheduled programming.
