Eric Dane’s friends are coming together to help out his family.
After the 53-year-old actor passed away on Thursday following a battle with ALS, his pals launched a $250,000 fundraiser on GoFundMe to “support” his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, whom he shares with Rebecca Gayheart. The campaign stated:
“It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Eric Dane after a hard-fought battle with ALS, leaving behind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world. Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness. Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease. As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs.”

It ends by saying that “any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters.”
His friend, Mike McGuiness, further explained in a tribute posted to Instagram on Friday that due to the pandemic and his battle with the neurodegenerative disease, Eric struggled with work and couldn’t leave behind as much as he wanted for his two kids, so that is why the GoFundMe was created:
“Covid and ALS did a number on his work life and he sadly couldn’t leave his family with the resources he had hoped. A gofundme is being made and I will post it on my story for anyone able to help. Love the ones you’ve got.”
Just like James Van Der Beek, fans and friends of Eric have been stepping up to help out the family since the fundraiser started. More than $183,000 has been raised so far. Amazing. Among the biggest donors is Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, which Eric starred in as Cal Jacobs. He and his wife, Ashley Levinson, donated a whopping $27,000. Wow! That’s incredible!
We continues to keep Eric’s friends and family in our thoughts during this difficult time. If you would like, you can donate to the GoFundMe HERE.
