Ewan McGregor is set to star in a new crime drama series for Amazon Studios titled Lodi. The project is inspired by the true story as told in an Alta online article by Andrew Dubbins.
The story is set In 1977, and it follows a car salesman named Lou (McGregor), who “goes from ordinary small-town citizen to FBI informant infiltrating the mafia when a key member of organized crime offers to buy his Cadillac dealership.”
Over the next three years, “Lou finds his quest for glory tested when he becomes embroiled in the inner workings of the crime family – from fronting a multimillion-dollar operation, to becoming a surrogate son– before procuring the first-ever conviction of an infamous crime boss.”
This sounds like it’ll be another great project for McGregor to be a part of. This is the kind of character that he’s going to be great as. The actor has versatility and range, he has a talent for convincingly portraying a wide variety of characters, from intense and dramatic roles to more lighthearted and comedic ones. He brings a naturalistic and authentic quality to his performances.
Timothy Greenberg (The Daily Show, Living with Yourself) will act as showrunner and executive producer on the series.
