Ewan McGregor recently made an appearance at MegaCon Orlando 2024 and during a panel, the Star Wars actor shared his hopes to return for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2. He went as far as to ask fans to write Disney to help make it happen. He said:
“It was originally gonna be a movie, and I’ve often thought, should it have been a movie? But I kind of think it’s great that they did it that way, and it’s a longer story, and hopefully, it’s more satisfying as a result. We got more time to weave a story. Let’s hope they do another one. Can everyone write to Disney? I’ll give you some email addresses at the end, and just say, ‘Dear Disney, let’s a have a bit more of Obi-Wan Kenobi please.'”
I thought Obi-Wan Kenobi was a disappointment and a messy, poorly-written Star Wars series that should’ve been so much better than what it was! While he didn’t want a movie, Obi-Wan Kenobi was originally being planned as a trilogy and the plans for the movie actually sounded a lot better than what the series ended up being. You can read all about those original plans here and here. I wish they would’ve made that trilogy.
If Lucasfilm actually does eventually develop another season, they need to bring on a new creative team. They should get Stuart Beatie to do it. He’s the guy who wrote the script for the original film that was being planned.
