Boston hardcore band Firewalker are finally ready to release their sophomore album, Hell Bent, which comes seven years after their 2017 self-titled debut LP, and also follows EPs in 2018 and 2019 and their 2022 demo. It arrives on June 28 via Triple B Records (preorder), and lead single “Carry My Own Torch” is out now.
The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by drummer Sasha Stroud at her NYC studio, Artifact Audio, and it features a song with guest vocals by Trapped Under Ice/Angel Du$t’s Justice Tripp. It finds the band going in a heavier direction, as guitarist Cecelia Halle explains:

After being a band for nearly 10 years, we wanted to create an album that captured how we have progressed musically, both in terms of instrumentation and inspiration. Since the beginning of Firewalker, we have drawn inspiration from Madball’s progression as a band: starting with the simplicity and genius of Ball of Destruction and developing toward heavier and metallic albums like Set it Off. With that in mind, the writing of the album drew heavily from our influences in hardcore and metal — trying to capture the spirit of late ’80s metallic hardcore while holding true to our roots as a Boston hardcore band.
