The first reaction to Lionsgate’s upcoming reboot of The Crow has surfaced, and as you might expect, it’s not good.
The reaction was shared online by Warrior screenwriter Cliff Dorfman, who says the film is “horrible” and “unwatchable.” The post has since been removed from X, but here’s what it said:
Here’s his full reaction: “If hypothetically, one happened to see a screening of @TheCrow_Movie #thecrow which @Lionsgate is releasing in August, one might say, it’s horrible, it’s unwatchable, don’t waste your money, or can’t believe it’s so much worse than the original. It is. And don’t.”
I will point out that Dorfman did write the screenplay for an earlier version of The Crow that was set to be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez. With that version of the film never getting off the ground, Dorfman might be a little biased.
Regardless, it seems like most fans are expecting The Crow reboot to be a disaster. The first trailer that was released didn’t go over well with fans at all.
In the film: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”
This version of the movie also stars singer/actor FKA Twigs, Danny Huston (30 Days of Night), Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A Son), and Jordan Bolger (The Woman King).
The Crow reboot will released in theaters on June 7, 2024.
