With There Goes The Neighborhood, girlfriends pick apart the ending of adolescence and the disillusionment that follows. The LP, out now via Big Noise, is their third full-length and sees the duo of Travis Mills and Nick Gross explore nostalgia, growing up, and the messiness of adulthood over sugary pop punk.
Since their inception, girlfriends have made many friends within the alternative space, having toured with Avril Lavigne and collaborated with Travis Barker and DeathbyRomy. On There Goes The Neighborhood, they enlist indie-rock singer-songwriter KennyHoopla for “SUGAR IN THE GAS TANK,” a song about the realization that someone you relied on has become something that’s holding you back. The comic-style animated video for the song features the trio as they skateboard and drive around a small town aimlessly, looking for a purpose.

girlfriends marked the LP release with a show with Vans, performing with producer and close collaborator John Feldmann of Goldfinger for their track “GOOD LUCK” from the new record. The release show, which included the famous Warped Tour inflatable, is an apt celebration ahead of the duo playing the festival in Orlando in November.
Later this fall, girlfriends will support KennyHoopla on his tour across the U.K. and Ireland. Check out the video for “SUGAR IN THE GAS TANK” and the upcoming tour dates below.
