Let it be known: Glen Powell isn’t here for any Ryan Gosling slander.
In case you missed it, Glen inadvertently became the center of an online debate this week when a movie producer hailed his rising stardom — and threw shade at another leading man in the process.
The following day, the account @OneTakeNews posted these quotes to X, and it’s safe to say that fans were a little confused by the shade towards the La La Land star.
Plenty of movie lovers disagreed with the claim that Ryan’s appeal is “mostly limited” to women and proceeded to highlight a whole host of films he’s starred in that targeted a male audience.
Needless to say, the original post — which, as of writing, has over 1,200 replies — stirred up quite the conversation online. And one person who caught wind of the discourse was Glen himself, who wasted no time before weighing in with the ultimate response.
“Gosling is a legend,” he wrote from his official account. “I’m just Glen.”
Glen’s perfect nod to Ryan’s Oscar-nominated performance as Ken in Barbie certainly went down well with fans, who are now pleading for the two men to star in a movie together. Let’s hope that Hollywood producer is tuned in and ready to make amends.
