Could Halle Berry finally be back as Storm? The iconic X-Men actress addresses her potential return in the Marvel Cinematic Universewith the upcoming Avengers films.
Marvel is in an era where it’s bringing back almost all of its iconic actors to reprise their roles in the MCU. However, one group that is mostly absent from this treatment is the X-Men cast. While some have broken through to the silver screen, like Hugh Jackman and Kelsey Grammer, most have been left on the wayside. This has left some to speculate that the studio is saving them for the upcoming Avengers films. Yet it seems Storm actress Halle Berry is leaving her answer in the wind!
“You never know,” Berry told ComicBookMovie.com when asked about her return as Storm in a future Avengers film. “We’ll find out!”
While nobody expected Halle Berry to confirm her return as Storm in an interview, her answer does leave open the possibility for the X-Men to make a cameo in Avengers. If she had said she was hoping to make an appearance in the MCU, that would mean Marvel likely hadn’t asked her to reprise her iconic role. So while it may be disappointing to get a vague platitude, it may be the best fans can get at this particular moment!
How Halle Berry Almost Returned As Storm
Yet the next Avengers movies weren’t the only places Halle Berry was open to reprising her iconic role. The X-Men star revealed that she told Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively that she would be open to returning as Storm in Deadpool and Wolverine. However, Marvel ultimately never asked her to appear in the MCU’s latest billion-dollar blockbuster.
“Blake [Lively] asked me one time, I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, and she said, ‘Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm?’” Berry told ComicBook.com. “I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’ but he never asked me.”
It’s certainly a shame that Halle Berry didn’t at least make a cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine. However, following the line of logic that Marvel is saving most of the X-Men cast for an MCU debut in a future Avengers film, it makes sense that the studio would hold back in calling her back to reprise her role as Storm. Though with how packed these movies are looking, Berry may be lucky to get in a single line in the film!
