Never one to shy away from holding Donald Trump accountable, Harrison Ford is criticizing the president over his lack of concern for the climate crisis.
The Oscar nominee recently slammed the POTUS over his “clear expression of ignorance, of hubris and purposeful subterfuge” in response to climate change, which Ford says will be Trump’s legacy on the matter.
“[Trump] doesn’t have any policies, he has whims. It scares the shit out of me,” he told The Guardian. “The ignorance, the hubris, the lies, the perfidy. [Trump] knows better, but he’s an instrument of the status quo and he’s making money, hand over fist, while the world goes to hell in a handbasket.”
Ford added, “It’s unbelievable. I don’t know of a greater criminal in history.”
Trump has consistently stood against climate and clean air protections, once again withdrawing the US from the Paris climate deal, and recently calling climate change “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.”
With 30 years of environmental activism under his belt, Ford said he “knew it was coming,” having to evacuate from his Brentwood home amid the California wildfires earlier this year.
“He’s losing ground because everything he says is a lie,” he said of Trump. “I’m confident we can mitigate against [climate change], that we can buy time to change behaviors, to create new technologies, to concentrate more fully on implementation of those policies.”
Ford continued, “But we have to develop the political will and intellectual sophistication to realize that we human beings are capable of change. We are incredibly adaptive, we are incredibly inventive. If we concentrate on a problem we can fix it most times.”
The Shrinking star has consistently spoken out against Trump, endorsing Kamala Harris during last year’s presidential election, after standing with her running mate Joe Biden in 2020.
