In 2023, I made my debut as a director with Aliens Expanded, the definitive documentary on the perfect sequel. A journey that took me across the world and into the company of James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver among many others. I have written over twenty books on movies, including Alien Vault, Anything You Can Imagine: Peter Jackson and the Making of Middle-earth, Ridley Scott: A Retrospective, James Cameron: A Retrospective, and The Legend of Mad Max. I’ve got another, Steven Spielberg: The Iconic Filmmaker and His Work, ready to be published in October 2024. I keep busy! I am the former editor and remain a contributing editor of Empire, still one of the world’s biggest movie magazines, as well as the writer-presenter of the Classic Movies series on the UK’s Sky Arts channel.
