Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t just drop new content through Title Updates and seasonal events. In between those, we’ve seen the addition of stronger enemies such as Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, as well as some fun cosmetics. Falling into the latter category is the Sealed Dragon Cloth armor, a long and dramatic-looking scarf that has returned from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Here’s what you need to know about how to forge the anime scarf itself and how to farm the limited-time event quest it’s attached to when it returns. At the time of this writing, you cannot presently forge this armor, so give this page a bookmark when the “Running Wild” event quest returns.
How to Forge Sealed Dragon Cloth
I had assumed that this headpiece would require Sinister Cloth, like the similarly named Sealed Eyepatch that was added during the Blossomdance Festival. I’m happy to say there is no need to collect that annoyingly rare material this time around. Almost everything you need can be gathered from the “Running Wild” event quest, including the identically named material that’s exclusive to it. Here are the required materials to forge Sealed Dragon Cloth armor:
- Tough Guardian Bone x5
- Guardian Fulgur Nosebone+ x3
- Guardian Blood+ x2
- Sealed Dragon Cloth x3
Outside the low-rank story hunts against Arkveld and Zoh Shia, Tough Guardian Bone can only be found from Guardian Seikrets or bone piles within Wyveria. The other three materials can conveniently be earned from the Running Wild event quest. Talk to Alma or access the Quest counter menu from your tent to take this assignment whenever it’s available. New ones are added or rerun every week, so it’s a good idea to check now and then.
How to Farm Running Wild Event Quest
There is a degree of randomness when it comes to earning rewards after a hunt. You might need to replay this Hunter Rank 21 quest a few times to get everything. Fortunately, it’s an easy hunt as long as you’re prepared. Guardian Fulgur Anjanath is a Construct monster with the Thunder element. The ideal strategy is to bring a build with high thunder resistance to avoid getting Thunderblight. Ice weapons will also be the most effective, especially if they deal slicing damage.
Even though this is an aggressive beast, dodging its physical attacks is relatively simple. Countering with an Offset Attack is also pretty easy once you recognize what’s to come after certain animations. Getting past the lightning is your main hurdle.. A majority of Guardian Fulgur Anjanath’s attacks will be thunder-based whenever they’re charged up. You can tell they have a charge when the wing-like appendages are sticking out from their back.
Making things harder is that, similar to Zoh Shia and the other Guardian monsters, this creature can create Wylkrystals. Any attack when its mouth glows white has a chance to spawn these. What’s dangerous about this is that Guardian Fulgur Anjanath tends to immediately follow up with Thunder attacks that cause the Wylkrystals to explode and deal widespread Thunder-element damage. You can use your own element pods to detonate the Wylkrystals, but I recommend dodging them instead.
You can avoid all of this by taking Guardian Fulgur Anjanath out of its charged state. Destroy its wounds and repeatedly knock it down to do so. Make sure to mount and use any environmental or crafted traps to subdue the monster for easy damage. Without the charge state, you won’t need to worry about Thunder attacks, Wylkrystals, or that pesky wound regeneration. Needless to say, the fight is a lot easier with your foe so powerless. Just remember that it will consume Wyvern Milk and regain the charge when it moves to a new location.
If you only need the Sealed Dragon Cloth to forge the identically named armor, capturing your foe is a great way to end this hunt early. This new quest-exclusive material is given for completion of the hunt and not necessarily for slaying the monster. I’ve found that using the time it spends drinking Wyvern Milk is perfect for hitting it with Tranq items and setting your crafted trap up.
The Running Wild event quest initially ran from May 20th to June 3rd. The quest is sure to return in the future, albeit likely still with limited availability. You won’t be able to earn the Sealed Dragon Cloth material any other way, so make some time to get what you need while you have the chance!
