The highest OVR Rating an athlete can have in MLB The Show 25 is 99, a score that can be hard to achieve fast for custom characters. As you begin Road to the Show, your character will start with very basic stats that increase as they gain more experience. To become the best superstar in the Major Leagues quickly, you’ll have to adopt very specific strategies to raise attributes.
Any athlete’s Overall (OVR) Rating is determined by the strength of all their stats put together. There are 28 total Attributes you can increase by performing different actions during a game or series as you continue further into a season. For example, those looking to become a great Pitcher in MLB The Show 25 can focus on their character’s ACC (Accuracy) and ARM (Arm Strength) to become stronger.
How To Get 99 Fielding Fast
Make Decisive, Not Ambitious Plays
Fielding refers to the plays you make while playing at any position that isn’t a Pitcher or Batter while on the defensive side of the diamond. No matter what stat you’re trying to improve, performing well during a game will always lead to heavy score increases in every category. Completing programs tied to specific stats yields great results as you pursue individual goals throughout nine innings.
Whenever you have a excellent game that will increase stats, make sure to exit to your Clubhouse rather than moving on to another game. This ensures that your levels and task bar progress, allowing you to increase Attributes in between games.
Here are some methods I’ve found to greatly increase a characters Fielding scores, both inside and outside a game:
- (Infielders) Get Double or Triple Plays
- (Outfielders) Catch fly balls consistently
- Complete Training drills for all infielder and outfielder positions
- Prevent Bases from getting stolen
- Don’t allow RBI plays to take place
Fielding is one of the trickiest to level up fast, as it requires much bigger plays to grow quickly. Getting outs from small, in-field hits will consistently progress your Fielding, but making bigger plays that prevent the enemy team from scoring give the biggest bonuses. Depending on what difficulty in MLB The Show 25 you’re playing on, this can be a challenging or simple stat category to bolster.
How To Get 99 Pitching Fast
Strike Out As Many Rivals As Possible
Pitching is not something you can level up too aggressively, as every Pitcher has an Energy value that depletes as they play. This means you have to focus on extremely specific actions to level up a Pitcher’s stats to 99 since they do not remain out on the field for as long as other players.

MLB The Show 25: All New & Returning Legends
MLB The Show 25 has announced over 20 new Legends, and almost 200 from previous games are expected to return. Here’s who’s on the roster.
Participating in Sim Games is a good way to practice Pitching without wasting Energy, as those games don’t count toward a season. Alongside drills, Sim Games are great testing grounds to practice various types of pitches to find out which ones get the most strikeouts. Here are some other strategies you can follow to try and boost your Pitching stats up to max:
- Get a 0-Hit Game
- Complete Training drills
- Catch a runner trying to steal
- Don’t let the bases become loaded
- Throw more Strikes than Balls
- Don’t let anyone Walk-On base
It becomes harder and harder to perform well as a Pitcher the more exhausted your athlete becomes. Don’t be afraid to switch Pitchers when one gets tired, as you’ll have no luck gaining experience to level up stats while you struggle to strike anyone out. It’s better to quit while you’re ahead to preserve a good performance than to throw it away attempting a no-hit game.
How To Get 99 Batting Fast
Control Your Swings To Make It To Bases
The best hitters in MLB The Show 25 don’t reach a 99 score in their Batting stats by playing passively. While you don’t want to strike out, don’t be afraid to swing aggressively at pitches you know your character can hit during a game. Some methods for Fielding and Pitching also work to increase Batting, but here are some other strategies you may want to use:
- Hit Home Runs
- Score from an RBI (Run Base In)
- Get on Base from a Single, Double, or Triple hit
- Don’t hit too many Foul Balls
- Complete Training Drills for Batting
- Keep a consistent Batting Average above 0.250
To make hitting easier, you can go into your settings and adjust your camera and reticle for when you step up to the plate. Having a more precise batting reticle makes pitches easier to hit and your strikes far stronger.
To match every player with a 99 OVR Rating, you have to dedicate yourself to practice and excellence during games. The only way to reach a 99 OVR Rating fast for your character in MLB The Show 25 is to focus on your strengths, hone them, and turn your training into results over the course of a season.
