The online world is still reeling from the heartbreaking loss of Barbara Jankavski, the Brazilian social media figure who styled herself as “Boneca Desumana.”
The moniker, which translates roughly to “inhuman doll,” captured both her dramatic transformations and the devoted audience that followed her every move. But as the investigation into her sudden death continues, the emerging details paint a very disturbing picture…

Authorities in São Paulo have now announced that the 28-year-old influencer’s death has been attributed to accidental cocaine use. That finding was reached after forensic analysis and police review, according to a police report first obtained this week by CNN Brasil.
And yet even with that official conclusion on record, the case remains anything but closed. Both the Public Prosecutor’s Office and Jankavski’s family have pushed for the matter to be escalated to the Jury Court, per People citing local Brazilian outlets. Basically, they are arguing that the circumstances around her passing demand deeper scrutiny and foul play may have been involved.
As we’ve reported, Barbara was found lifeless inside the residence of Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto, a 51-year-old public defender whose account of that evening has become central to the now-divided narrative. According to a police report, de Vitto admitted that he’d hired her for what he described as “sexual services” and that the two had used illicit substances. He told authorities that after she fell asleep, he noticed she wasn’t moving and attempted to revive her while contacting emergency services. Medical personnel arrived shortly after but could not save her.
Yet the scene left investigators with concerns that went beyond his testimony. Military police reported Barbara’s body was discovered wearing only underwear and bore a visible injury to her left eye along with marks on her back. While a friend later said the facial injury allegedly stemmed from an unrelated fall, the totality of the evidence was troubling enough that authorities labeled her death suspicious.
For her audience, the news has felt surreal. Barbara had sculpted a digital persona that fascinated hundreds of thousands across Instagram and TikTok. Her fans watched as she chronicled her many cosmetic procedures, including a facelift earlier this year. That mix made her “Human Barbie” nickname feel both affectionate and haunting.

Her last social media update came in October with a video alongside fellow creator Avós Da Razão. In the days since her passing, that post has transformed into a memorial, with followers leaving stories, heartbreak, and disbelief in the comments.
What remains now is a family demanding answers during a terrible time. And until the conflicting pieces come together, those who cared about Barbara — both in person and from afar — are left to sit and wait and wonder.
So sad…
