Elizabeth Banks has revealed that she experienced a life-threatening incident on set of her new thriller movie Skincare.
While taking a break for lunch during a day of filming, the three-time-Emmy-nominee was eating a meal when a “little green pea” became lodged in her throat and she began choking.
She spoke about the “scary experience” during a live interview on Good Morning America.

“I had my first ever choking incident,” she revealed to the hosts.
“I literally couldn’t breathe and it was super scary,” she later added.
The incident occured while she was eating lunch “alone in [her] trailer”. Unable to breathe or make any noise, Banks said she was “so afraid”.

Desperate for help, Banks explained that she ”threw the [trailer] door open” and began signalling to crew members that she was choking.
Luckily for Banks, a crew member noticed that she was in distress and came to her aid.

“[I] happened to see someone who said: ‘Are you choking?’ and I gave him the sign, you know,” she explained as she demonstrated the choking gesture.
The crew member then approached Banks “very calmly” and performed the Heimlich maneuver, which is a first aid technique use to relieve choking, on her. She explained that he had “to do it twice” before the pea came loose.

“His name is Julius, he is my guardian angel. Julius, I love you,” she said before expressing that he “saved [her] life”.
The Hunger Games star continued to reveal that the experience has left her determined to encourage as many people as possible to learn how to do the life-saving first aid technique.
“Make sure you know how to do it, talk to your friends and family about it,” she urged to the Good Morning America hosts and audience.
