Alison Brie is one of the stars of Masters of the Universe and is teasing the upcoming superhero film.
The Amazon MGM Studios film is based on Mattel’s franchise of the same name, and there have been numerous rumors around the project.
In a new interview, the Community alum clarified rumors that the latest take on the franchise would take on a more serious tone rather than the campy tone previous versions have had.
“Who said it’s leaning a little more serious?” Brie told Collider. “I don’t think they know as much as they think they know. That’s all I’m gonna say.”
Masters of the Universe follows 10-year old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man, the most powerful man in the Universe.
Brie is set to play Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Nicholas Galitzine will play the lead role of He-Man. Other actors in Masters of the Universe include Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto, and Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress.
