I Hope The Chosen Season 5 Parallels Jesus’ Crucifixion With Another Well-Known Biblical Story

After recently finishing The Chosen‘s fourth season, and now I hope that the show parallels Jesus Christ’s crucifixion with another Biblical story. The Chosen season 4 has set up the biggest event of the New Testament from the Bible, but there are still ways to bring in the Old Testament. I understand the show’s point is to tell the story of Jesus (Jonathan Roumie) and His disciples, but incorporating an Old Testament parallel will go hand-in-hand with the current arc.

The Chosen season 5 will likely be the show’s most important season. The series will have more Biblical stories to cover afterward, but the plotlines of the fifth season will highlight key factors of Christianity. Before Jesus comes about in the Bible, significant stories are still essential to the beliefs of the Christian faith. These crucial stories should parallel those in Jesus’ time in The Chosen, as they often do in the Bible.

The Chosen Season 4’s Saddest Death Didn’t Come From The Bible

Surprisingly, the saddest death in The Chosen season 4 wasn’t in the Bible at all. Here’s why it was added to the show’s take on Jesus’ story.

I Hope The Chosen Season 5 Parallels Jesus’ Crucifixion With The Story Of Abraham

It Will Perfectly Tie Together The Old and New Testaments In The Show

Jesus Christ addressing a crowd in The Chosen

Jesus Christ’s crucifixion will happen in The Chosen‘s fifth season, and I hope that showrunner Dallas Jenkins, decides to parallel this plotline with the story of Abraham from the Old Testament. Abraham takes his only son, Isaac, up to Mount Moriah to make a sacrifice to God. Thankfully, Isaac is not sacrificed after God tests Abraham. Nevertheless, this is still one of the most essential stories in The Bible. Given its importance, The Chosen should parallel this story to Jesus’ crucifixion because they share a critical similar quality.

Although Abraham merely almost sacrificed his only son to God in the Old Testament, he still had to pass this test to receive the real sacrifice, which was a ram.

Both Abraham and Jesus make sacrifices to God, which is why their stories should be juxtaposed with each other in season 5 of The Chosen. Although Abraham merely almost sacrificed his only son to God in the Old Testament, he still had to pass this test to receive the real sacrifice, which was a ram. Jesus’ sacrifice as the Christ is significantly more crucial as He is the Savior. Nevertheless, the two stories still parallel one another by focusing on sacrifices from The Bible that are vital to Christianity.

How The Story Of Jesus’ Crucifixion & The Story Of Abraham Are Connected

Their Geography Connects The Two Stories

Mount Moriah, where Abraham took Isaac to make his sacrifice to God, is in the same vicinity as Mount Calvary, which is also known as Mount Golgotha. Mount Calvary is where Jesus experiences his crucifixion. The fact that their geography is so close together is another reason The Chosen should take this route with Abraham. The similarity in the imagery would further draw attention to the similarities.

After seeing this storyline connection, I think
The Chosen
should follow this pattern.

If The Chosen decides to create a parallel between Jesus and Abraham’s sacrifice, the series will not be the first to establish this connection. I have recently watched His Only Son on Amazon Prime and admired how the film’s ending flashes from Abraham (Nicolas Mouawad) and Isaac (Edaan Moskowitz) on Mount Moriah to the three crosses at Jesus’ crucifixion on Mount Calvary. After seeing this storyline connection, I think The Chosen should follow this pattern. The series does have a wider audience, and it could use its platform to highlight this Biblical connection to more people.

The Chosen Has A Knack For Highlighting Biblical Parallels

The Episodes Often Start With Earlier Biblical Stories

Jesus and Lazarus walking and talking in The Chosen

Several episodes of The Chosen spotlight Biblical comparisons. The third season’s finale creates a parallel between King David’s (Jorge Franco IV) Psalm 77 and Jesus’ apostle Simon (Shahar Issac) questioning his faith. Plus, the fourth season connects John the Baptist’s (David Amito) birth and death. These are not the only parallels the show highlights, as nearly every episode includes them. Many of the best Christian movies follow this pattern of connecting Biblical stories, so it makes sense for The Chosen to do this on television as well.

I noticed that most of the older Biblical stories appear before the opening credits, leaving the rest to build on that with Jesus and His disciples.

Since The Chosen establishes various Biblical parallels throughout the series, it should continue this in season 5. I noticed that most of the older Biblical stories appear before the opening credits, leaving the rest to build on that with Jesus and His disciples. This leaves the importance of the main plot, which the next season should still follow. These stories building off each other have always amplified my understanding so I could pick up on even minor details they share. Even the best television dramas connect their storylines throughout their episodes, and The Chosen should continue to do the same.

Some of the best Biblical epics of all time connect multiple stories from The Bible. The Chosen should continue this trend in the show’s fifth season, particularly with the story of Abraham and how he almost sacrificed his only son to prove his love for God. There is still room for the series to incorporate other parallels between Jesus and His apostles and more Biblical stories. If The Chosen decides to continue this pattern, it will be exciting to see the connections across multiple Biblical stories and how they increase my understanding of them.
