Listen, I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine as much as the next guy, but if Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)
needs to fix the biggest casting issue from the Fox X-Men era. Spider-Man is one of the best sub-franchises inside the MCU, and with Holland’s contracts all in order, news about Spider-Man 4 is trickling through. Spider-Man 4 is set to be released in the Summer of 2026, which means the movie is in active development right now.
And with active development comes announcements about casting, and potential leaks, and other information. However, through official channels, one addition to the MCU has been released with Sadie Sink set to join Holland in the upcoming film. However, the details of who she is playing remain under wraps. Despite this, there are plenty of rumors and theories floating around about which Marvel character Sink could be playing, with some holding more weight than others.
If Sadie Sink Is Jean Grey, She’s The Shortest Actress To Play The X-Men Character
But That Could Make Her A More Comic-Accurate Version Of Jean Grey
One popular theory has Sink down to play the incredible Jean Grey in the upcoming movie. While Jean is usually an X-Men character, the MCU has been gearing things up to introduce the X-Men to the MCU over the last couple of years. And since Peter Parker has hidden his identity from the whole world, he now stands as kind of an outsider. The X-Men have always been outsiders, and it would make sense to have Sadie Sink play Jean Grey, a prominent member of the team, who could offer help and support to another young hero like Spidey.
However, if Sink is Jean Grey, she would be the shortest actress to play the character to date. Famke Janssen, who played the role in the original trilogy from 2000, stood at 6’0″ tall, while her successor, Sophie Turner, came in at 5’9″ tall. Sink, on the other hand, stands at just 5’3″ tall, which is a considerable gap between her and the previous versions. However, it does bring her close to being in line with the comics, where Jean is said to stand at 5’6″ tall.
If Sink Plays Jean Grey, Marvel Needs To Cast A Short Actor As Wolverine
The Rest Of The X-Men Need To Make Sense With Sadie Sink’s Casting
But, this has a knock-on effect on how other characters in the X-Men may be viewed. In previous live-action adaptations, the height differences between many of the actors has not been a huge problem, but with Hugh Jackman playing the only version of Wolverine for the last 25 years, he has made it his own, despite his distinct differences when compared to the source material. While Jackman is roughly 6’2″ tall, Wolverine is supposed to be more than a foot shorter at just five feet flat.

Could Sadie Sink play Jean De Wolfe in Spider-Man 4?
Ok, so Sadie Sink was just cast in Spider-Man 4 in an unknown role. She could play Jean De Wolfe, who is a cop that Spider-Man works with, and they fall in love. They could have Sin-Eater, hopefully played by Matthew Lillard, as the main villain and Black Cat could be trying to seduce Spider-Man into a life of crime.
While it may not seem like an essential detail, Wolverine’s height actually does play an important role in his character, as he often feels the need to make himself feel seen and heard, which leads to him challenging larger people aggressively. It also creates an interesting dynamic between him and his romantic interest, Jean Grey, who stands a half a foot taller than him. So, if Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey, Marvel may need to consider carefully who will be playing Wolverine, and how tall they are in relation to the other X-Men.
