Director James Mangold’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny made $60 million domestically on its opening weekend with a total of $130 million worldwide, and while that will be more than enough to take the top spot for the weekend, fell slightly below its box office projections, which was $140 million.
The film had a huge $295 million production budget, and that doesn’t include the $100 million that was pumped into marketing the film. So, the film has quite a rough and long road to theatrical profitability.
I enjoyed the movie, and it seems like most audiences who have seen it have enjoyed it. It currently has an 88% audiences score on Rotten Tomatoes, which isn’t bad! But, for one reason or another people just aren’t flocking to theaters to watch the movie.
The movie isn’t a perfect film, it’s nowhere near the quality of the first three films in the franchise, but it’s still fun to watch Harrison Ford in action again as Indy! It’s also better than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It’s an adventure worth watching on the big screen, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you should check it out! I’ve seen it twice already and I enjoyed it a little more the second time around.

In the final installment of the iconic franchise, Harrison Ford’s Indy embarks on a big, globe-trotting, rip-roaring cinematic adventure. The story is set in 1969 during the Space Race, and Indiana Jones is pulled into another grand adventure, which involves Voller, a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the Moon landing program, who wants to “rectify the world and make it into a better place as he sees fit.” He’s looking to correct the mistakes that Hitler made when he was in power with the Dial of Destiney artifact.
The movie also stars Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Shaunette Renée Wilson (The Resident), and Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age Of Ultron).
The film will open in theaters on June 30, 2023.
