EXCLUSIVE: Courtney Hoffman has wrapped production on her feature directorial debut, Intimacy Party, the ensemble romantic comedy led by Juno Temple, with SNL alum Cheri Oteri and John Michael Higgins (Licorice Pizza) rounding out the cast.
Also new is UTA Independent Film Group‘s boarding of the film to oversee worldwide sales.
Written by Hoffman and Paul Kruse, Intimacy Party follows Cleo Kauffman, who attempts to save her relationship by recreating the intimacy party where she first met her fiancé, only to realize she may have fallen for the wrong person that night.
No word on roles to be played by Oteri and Higgins. As we told you first in August, the supporting cast also includes Richa Moorjani, Meredith Hagner, Michiel Huisman, Chris Pang, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Miles Gutierrez-Riley and Patrick Renna.
Hoffman directed from her own script, shooting in Los Angeles with a California tax incentive. The film is produced by Delirio Films’ Christopher Leggett and Rafael Marmor, alongside Jesse Schiller and Hoffman. Amanda Massetti and Bri Hennessey of Pasta & Tacos Productions served as exec producers.
An Emmy-nominated actor and comedian known for her five seasons on Saturday Night Live, Oteri has most recently been seen on the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place and reprising her role of Gail Hailstorm — a parody of the Scream franchise’s Gale Weathers, played by Courteney Cox — in the new Scary Movie. She is represented by Goodman, Genow, Schenkman and Eric Kind at Brave Artists Management.
Higgins is an Emmy-nominated actor, producer and game show host known for his work in the Christopher Guest mockumentaries Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and For Your Consideration, as well as the a cappella group comedy Pitch Perfect. Currently hosting Season 6 of America Says on the Game Show Network, he is represented by UTA and Jim Gilio at Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
