Production on The Batman Part II should start sometime in 2024. However, it seems not even Jim Gordon actor Jeffrey Wright has read the script for the sequel.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting any news they can get about The Batman Part II, the sequel to what many praise as the best Batman film of all time. With the movie set to release in October 2023, at least for the time being, filming should be starting later this year. Yet, Jeffrey Wright, who played Jim Gordon in The Batman, is still eagerly awaiting any news himself.
“You’ve seen as much of a script as I have at this point,” Wright told ET Online. “I don’t want to jump ahead. I just want to go forward with it.”
“Clearly, I’m Lieutenant Gordon at the end of the film, the first film, so we may be moving up in the ranks, I suppose, but I haven’t seen anything yet,” The actor continued. “I’m being patient, letting [director] Matt Reeves do his thing – which is going to be magical and wonderful – and looking forward to diving back into it when the time comes.”
It’s good to see that the actors starring in The Batman Part II have more patience than some of the fans! While there have been plenty of rumors about the sequel, details about Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordan have been fairly sparse. Though given the actor’s recent success with American Fiction, he’s sure to knock whatever role he has out of the park.
The Future of Robert Pattinson’s Batman Series
The first movie ended with Batman apprehending the Riddler, who has flooded Gotham City, though details about Part II are currently scarce. Matt Reeves is co-writing the script of the sequel with Mattson Tomlin.
The heads of DC Studios recently revealed that The Batman: Part II is set to hit theaters on October 2025. The first movie earned $770.8 million at the worldwide box office, a figure that makes it the seventh highest-grossing movie of 2022.
