Is Jenna Ortega ever going to return to the MCU? The rising star speaks on her lesser-known cameo in the franchise all the way back in Iron Man 3.
Jenna Ortega is one of the hottest names in Hollywood right now. Following her breakout role in Wednesday, the actress has been everywhere. From a starring role in Tim Burton’s big screen return with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, to odd indie flicks like Miller’s Girl. And as with any actress that has gotten popular over the last few years, fans have been wondering if she’d have any interest in tossing on some spandex and joining the MCU.
However, it seems as though she already has! Many casual fans may not know this, but Jenna Ortega actually made a small cameo in Iron Man 3 when she was just 11 years old as the Vice President’s Daughter. She reflected on the role when asked if she’d ever consider joining the MCU, though seems to cast doubt on the idea that she’d ever return for a new role.
“I did it once. It was one of the first jobs I ever did,” Ortega explains during an ET interview with Paul Rudd. “They took all my lines out. I’m in Iron Man 3 for a quick second, I take up the frame. I have one leg, And I’m the Vice President’s daughter…They even took my name away. But I just…I count that and move on.”
Could Jenna Ortega Return In The MCU?
During the interview, Paul Rudd joked that Jenna Ortega might be able to return as the same character in the MCU, with Marvel finding someway to reinvent her miniscule role over a decade later. While it could be interesting to see the daughter of a former Vice President take on the role of a hero, it’s doubtful that the franchise would waste the actresses’ star power just for a throwaway callback to Iron Man 3.
When it comes to who Jenna Ortega could play if she did return for a new role in the MCU, there are plenty of options. She already played Rogue in an iconic SNL skit, though that would be an even more obscure reference than Iron Man 3. Though perhaps the most interesting role would be her as Ghost Rider, with Alejandra Jones being a character to match Ortega’s vibe and nationality to a T.
