Does the MCU finally have its Beast? A new rumor suggests Jesse Plemons is being eyed to join the upcoming X-Men reboot.
The rumor mill is officially in full swing when it comes to the MCU’s X-Men team. While the last few months have had a trickle of casting reports come out, these recent weeks have been an absolute flood of reports regarding who the studio is eyeing to play the team in the upcoming reboot. Almost every mainstay of the roster has had an actor “attached” in some way or another, from Hunter Schafer as Mystique to DeWanda Wise as Storm.
Now it seems as though everyone’s favorite blue fuzzball is joining the ranks of the rumor mill! A new report from Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic suggests that Jesse Plemons is being eyed to play Beast in the MCU’s X-Men reboot. Plemons has long been a favorite to take on the mantle of Hank McCoy, with the actor best known for his roles in projects like Breaking Bad and Civil War.
Is Jesse Plemons Playing Beast In The MCU?
The rumor that Jesse Plemons is playing Beast may come as a shock to fans who saw Kelsey Grammer make his return as the cobalt Magilla Gorilla. However, it’s likely that Grammer won’t be a mainstay in the reboot. Rather, he’ll appear alongside other old X-Men for a small role in the ending of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, before passing off his paws one final time to a younger actor like Plemons.
Plemons also fits the general age range for other actors at the center of an X-Men rumor. Traditionally older characters like Storm seem to be eyeing actors in their late 30s or early 40s, with younger heroes being cast in their early to mid 20s. Given Beast is traditionally on the older side of the team, it makes sense that 36-year-old Jesse Plemons would be in consideration for the long-awaited reboot of the team.
