Jimmy Kimmel reacts to Katie Zacharia’s Piers Morgan interview, wants her to be rehired
Jimmy Kimmel reacted to fired White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia’s interview with Piers Morgan on the Oct. 30 show of Jimmy Kimmel Live! The host mockingly highlighted Zacharia’s repeated usage of the phrases “litigated” and “adjudicated” while dodging Morgan’s questions about her dismissal. Laughing at the footage with the studio audience, he also jokingly pleaded with President Trump to rehire her until the end of the year.
During the Piers Morgan interview, Morgan pressed Zacharia on being fired after a very short time in the position. Zacharia deflected each question by repeating that the matter had been “litigated and adjudicated all throughout the media.” Morgan pushed back, asking, “He was publicly chucking you under the bus there, wasn’t he?” Zacharia again responded, “As I said earlier, this has been litigated and adjudicated and well spoken about.”
Kimmel compared her repeated responses to a technical malfunction. He also highlighted Morgan’s attempt to get a personal reflection from Zacharia. Morgan asked, “When you watch back the clips from your first and only press conference, what do you feel?” Zacharia replied, “Pierce, I am grateful to be here. I am not going to continue litigating this. This is over 10 days ago.”
The host then mocked Zacharia’s attempt to place the events surrounding her exit from her position before the month had even ended, before making his joke request to Donald Trump.
After a notably shaky first press briefing, Zacharia was fired from the role of White House Press Secretary after only five days. Despite this, Zacharia also said in her interview with Morgan that she would “love to work for [Donald Trump] again.”
