Who knew that Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Jurassic Park in the 90’s would become the cultural phenomenon that it is today? Well, probably studio heads who knew Spielberg’s track record most notably his breakout film Jaws, which launched the summer blockbuster era.
In very exciting news, Jurassic World fans can expect another feature to come their way. It’s been two years since the last time dinosaurs roamed the Earth in 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, Universal Pictures clearly has no plans to put this franchsie in amber. The studio is deep into the development of an all-new Jurassic Worldmovie and has David Koepp back at the keyboard. David Koepp was the writer of the original 1993 Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg. He also penned its sequel, 1997’s Jurassic Park: The Lost World, though we won’t hold that one against him. The project is far enough along that the feature is being rumored to have a 2025 release date. Which feels surprising for VFX and actor scheduling especially after the dual strikes, but we hope it’s true? We just hope it’s great!
There is no director at this time, but the project is attached to Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, with him as Executive Producer.
The Jurassic franchise is the crown jewel in Universal’s film history, with the 1993 original movie redefining special effects and having a long-lasting impact on pop culture. Six movies have been made over the span of three decades, earning more than $6 billion worldwide. The original Jurrasic Park was adapted from the 1990 novel by Michael Crichton.
