Justin Timberlake faced some serious backlash last year when Britney Spears dropped her memoir. Singing and playing guitar in the bathroom after an at home abortion, really Justin? But now the once A++ level music star is making headway as he plans a free concert in his hometown.
He was young? Is that what we might be going with, after that story broke? We’d be lying if we didn’t say we used to be massive Justin Timberlake fans as well. We truly enjoyed his music from both of his solo albums, the news with Britney was really troubling. We’re in a different era now, and we can’t imagine the early 00’s and the fallout of that behavior. As old fans we would like to hear his side of the story. Could the new album shed some light on the situation?
The singer is giving a free concert in Memphis on Jan. 19. The Tennessee native will do a one-night-only performance at the Orpheum Theatre in the city. Lucky you if you’re in Tennessee. The surprise concert was announced Friday on Timberlake’s social media accounts. No official reason on the purpose of the free show, but speculation suggests it’s to stir up interest in a possible new album. Justin Timberlake had a fairly quiet 2023, performing just twice publicly, including the NSYNC reunion at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Going home,” Timberlake captioned a set of Instagram photos announcing the show. The main image is a billboard with details on the “one night only” concert, with Timberlake also adding an old video of him as a youth, plus a photo of his itinerary which included “travel to Memphis Jan. 19 – Orpheum.” The final video is a seconds-long clip of a previously unreleased single.
You can head to his website where a link directs fans to Ticketmaster, where they can register for free for seats until Monday, Jan. 15, at 10:59 p.m. CT. Those who win tickets for the show will be confirmed on Jan. 18.
