Opinions ranged from praise to downright baiting. One comment encapsulated well the frenzy of the fans awaiting the moment: “Stage is hot, crowd is wild, and the queen just landed in Oz 🔥👑🇦🇺 PERTH WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.” Another one: “This is truly a sweet post,” appreciating Perry’s nod to the crowd.
On the other hand, some snuck in with their negativity. One inker said, “This is the beginning of the end. The show is pathetic and the music is horrible,” while another one called her an “old has-been.” Ouch! Adding to this was yet one cryptic comment relating to Perry’s past controversies: “You and your husband bullied an elderly nun to death and then stole her home. You should be in prison.” Fact or exaggeration—one thing is clear: The comment section is without mercy.
International fans also expressed pride for their respective countries amidst the uproar: “Can we please have the infinity stage in Brazil? We deserve it as much as the other fans,” pleaded one, while another jocularly hailing from Canada urged, “Can’t wait to see you in Canada!!” One of the Portuguese-speaking celebs chimed in for the global campaign: “I already bought my ticket to see you in September in Brasília ❤️.”
Then came weird digressions such as calling for Perry to “have a shrimp on the BBQ,” because Australia. Then the obnoxious crypto bros showed up with, “Exciting times! Hope to see @pepecoineth shine!” I swear, no celebrity post is safe from crypto advertisements.
Not a single comment has gotten a reply from Perry, but then who’d expect it? She’s a person who, unrepentantly, will continue doing her thing, show or no show, and whether or not she has critics is irrelevant, as her past behaviors attest. With tour dates as far along as they are, chatter surrounding Perry performances will surely be as loud and profound as she is on stage.
