Kevin Costner has opened up about his 2023 divorce from Christine Baumgartner.
The actor said his biggest concern at the time were his children, Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 14.
“That was my fear, and so I’m kind of living with that right now. But that’s life,” he told People, explaining the thought was at the forefront of his mind, having gone through a divorce with kids before.

Costner and Baumgartner were married for 18 years before filing for divorce in 2023. They finalised their settlement in February this year.
He told People that despite their worries for their kids, he and Baumgartner ultimately “just weren’t able to go the distance,” but have worked hard to adjust their family to their new lifestyle.
“You just do it. You just keep talking, you keep coaching [the kids], you keep interested in what they’re interested in,” he explained of how he manages the new family dynamic.

Amid their divorce, Costner was also juggling his upcoming film Horizon: An American Saga, a passion project he used $38 million (around $57 million AUD) and mortgaged a property to fund.
While the Yellowstone star said having “so many things in motion” made the separation even harder, he explained he see the project he’s bounced around for over 30 years finally come to life this year.
“What I can say is I’ve had an amazing life,” he said. “I’ve been bruised, but I’ve had an amazing life and I’m grateful for that.”
