Knumears have announced the release of their debut album, Directions, out April 3 via Run For Cover. Recorded at Atomic Garden by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Gouge Away), the new album leans even further into the screamo/post-hardcore sound the band are becoming known for.
“I think what draws us to this type of music, just like everyone else, is the absolute raw emotion,” guitarist/vocalist Matthew Cole says. “We all grew up listening to hardcore, and I think that allows you to see the world in a completely different light — both more creatively and intellectually. Not being raised on music that had nothing real to say was the best thing that happened to us.”

Alongside the news of Directions is the album’s new single, “Fade Away,” featuring guest vocals from Jeff Smith of Jeromes Dream, a fusion of the genre’s past and future. The lyric video for “Fade Away” features the band performing, along with shots of the crowd captured on a VHS camcorder.
