The season finale for The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City seems to have snuck up on us. But alas, here we are, watching the group rip each other over their final dinner in Mexico. Heather’s brilliant idea to have a burn book come to life backfires in a big way when Lisa loses her cool on Whitney. It is unclear where these friendships go after this exercise goes awry…
After a montage of future scenes, the viewers are brought back to 24 hours earlier…when sh*t has not quite hit the fan…yet. Meredith has woken up with a scratched cornea and an apology for Heather. She felt as though she could only be heard if she yelled, but admits Heather did not deserve that behavior. Luckily, they are able to make up before the Lisa tribute lunch gets underway.
As a nod to Lisa, a theme has been put into place. Because Lisa despises a theme, Heather has the ladies dress up as their version of Lisa. Now THIS is a theme Lisa can get behind. For once, Lisa is speechless seeing all of her friends Lisa-ed out. Over lunch, the ladies do their best impersonation of Lisa and they are spot on, until Whitney goes a tad too far.
Whitney has left her tags on, implying that maybe Lisa is a “bit more fake” than she comes off. It doesn’t take much from Whitney to trigger Lisa, but Whitney does not back down. She points out that Lisa is only in friendships that serve her and that Lisa makes everything about herself. Whitney and Lisa raise their voices at one another until Whitney tells Lisa to “shut the f*ck up” and listen to her. Lisa stands, demanding Whitney prove all the things she claims about her so that Lisa can then sue her and take her new house. Ouch.
Naturally, Britani jumps in, but Mary reminds her that she had better zip it. After all, Britani was just caught recording the whole group and has no supporting arguments. Britani is aghast that the recording is not old news, but takes this moment to tells Meredith she will never recover from being called “vile.” Meredith tells Britani that she is not interested in socializing with her anymore, and a distraught Britani excuses herself, once again, to go and cry.
Mary is glad to see Britani go since “that girl’s no good,” but when Angie runs after Britani, Mary is perplexed. According to Mary’s friend book, Angie should not go running after people Mary doesn’t like.
After a chat with Angie, Heather, and Lisa, Britani feels better. The groups split up and ½ of the ladies attend ceviche making class, while the other ½ go onto the beach for some horseback riding.
Later, they meet for an epic final dinner in Mexico. Bronwyn leads a toast to a successful girls’ trip, but Mary is off-put by Angie’s earlier behavior. Mary wonders why Angie would run after Britani, hence the cold shoulder, but Angie reminds Mary that she said God brought them together. Mary states that she is wrong about Angie and their friendship. Mary explains she is big on loyalty and Angie emotionally tries to let Mary know that she has changed her life. She doesn’t like that Mary is shutting her out, especially after Mary told her everything.
Mary talks about past abandonment issues with her parents. Her mom was her best friend at one point, but then cut her off, and now Mary doesn’t do well when people betray her. Angie reminds Mary that she, too, has abandonment issues, which is why they are even more connected than most. In her confessional, Mary reiterates how her dad left and never came back, and so now in relationships she tends to “brace herself.” After much ado, Mary realizes that Angie brought her sisterhood and it is clear that they love each other.
Heather invites others to clear the air, so Meredith goes in on Whitney for accusing Lisa of planting a story about Whitney’s jewelry company. It turns out that the person who supposedly gave Whitney the “proof,” told Meredith a very different story. The podcaster told Meredith that Whitney has twisted his words around. In a defensive move, Whitney reminds Lisa that she fed Reality Von Tease information, but Lisa vehemently denies this.
Whitney then drops a bomb, letting the women know that she reached out to Monica. Plot twist. After everything this group has gone through to get away from Monica, it looks like Whitney made a bad move in an attempt to strengthen her case. Whitney felt like she was put in a corner to prove herself and states Monica said that Lisa fed information to a press outlet.
Mary points out that Lisa and Meredith are not the nicest people when they gang up on you, but Heather is more upset about everyone searching for receipts. She reminds Whitney that a stranger on the internet is turning the group against each other. Heather attempts to talk some sense into the group and tells them they should watch their words. It seems like they all have their own burn books at the end of the day- but these burn books are in their phones. No one is innocent. They all have said horrible, hurtful things to one another. In the end, the problem didn’t go away last year with Monica.
Heather wants them all to come clean: go through their phones and find the worst thing they have said about someone in the group, and then SHARE that text with the person. The goal? To burn the past and move forward. Best. Laid. Plans.
Mary goes first and her text is about Heather. Mary didn’t hold back and truly gave Heather a reality check, calling Heather fame-hungry and mean. Heather understands where this is coming from, but she doesn’t want her “new-found confidence to come across as mean.”
Britani is next. Her text is about Mary, but is less than groundbreaking, talking about leaving Bronwyn out of tea. Speaking of Bronwyn, she rips Britani a new one in her text. Angie then shares her text about Bronwyn…and her marriage. Angie’s text talks about Bronwyn wearing a hot dog to remind us “she sucked her way to the top.” YIKES. Angie apologizes and I think we can all agree this is a rough “game” to watch.
Heathe’s text is about Whitney selling her soul for fame and recognition, but Bad Wheather is not broken from this. In fact, they appear to come together, stronger.
Whitney shares a text that she wrote to Angie about Lisa. It discusses an alleged threesome where Lisa made out with another women while j*rking John off. Lisa is infuriated that Whitney has once again lied about her character and has taken it too far by involving John. Lisa calls Whitney “dirty as f*ck,” but does not acknowledge that Bronwyn’s marriage was also attacked during this game. She is not alone in this.
Lisa makes it all about her, but when Angie reminds her that no one believes Whitney, an angry Lisa blurts out, “I’ve heard that Shawn does circle jerks. How does that feel?” Angie is so taken back by this that she unleashes, lunges, and tosses flowers in Lisa’s direction. Meredith hollers that there is nothing ok about any of this and it is clear that the true colors are coming out of these ladies in this moment. Bronwyn insinuates that some of these women are surface narcissists. It IS interesting that some of the women can sit there and take it while others storm off.
In the end, Angie’s salon is doing well, although “high body count hair is not offered.” Meredith will not be sharing business plans with Whitney, Lisa continues to travel, and Mary is grateful for all of the support for Robert, Jr. Gwen is not planning to meet her grandparents any time soon and Heather is working on her third book. Whitney promises to leave Justin out of her future drama, but is grateful for the “hilling” experience the dinner provided. Friendships are hard, but are they worth fighting for?
