Lost and Ant-Man actress Evangeline Lilly has announced she is stepping away from her acting career.
“I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings,” the 44-year-old wrote.
“Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment.”

She continued: “I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.
Her message was posted alongside a throwback video of the actress being interviewed on the set of hit TV series Lost in 2006.

In the video she is asked what she hopes for her future.
She responded: “I am terrified to admit this to the rest of the acting world, but ideally, 10 years from now I’d like to be a retired actress,” she said.
“I would like to have a family and I’d like to be writing and potentially influencing people’s lives in a more humanitarian way.”
One of Hollywood’s biggest stars transforms for new role
Lilly has been participating in humanitarian work in Rwanda for 13 years where she runs a non-profit organisation.
The actress and her partner Normal Kali are parents to two sons born in 2011 and 2015.

In a recent post Lilly spoke of embracing “middle age”.
“The most notable thing that middle age seems to have changed in me is this: Instead of wanting to be the people I admire, I now find myself rooting for them.
“Instead of wanting to compete with my peers, I now want to see them succeed. Instead of seeing little merit in the young, I want to invest in them.”
She ended the post by saying: “It’s a miraculous shift that feels like the beginning of becoming a good elder,” before adding the hashtag “#elderintraining.”
Lilly’s most recent work includs filming a documentary about Lost in which she starred from 2004 until 2011.
That is where she met her partner Kali.
More recently she joined the Marvel Universe playing Wasp in the Ant-Man series alongside Paul Rudd.
She said the role earned her some cred with her eldest son. Lilly told Good Morning America at the time: “My 11-year-old son is in middle school, Marvel is currency in middle school,” she said.
“He likes to flex on his friends, ‘I know what’s going on. My mom is the Wasp. No big deal.’.. But, they’ve come around because when I first became an Avenger, he was like, ‘Mom, why do you have to be the worst Avenger? Why couldn’t you be Iron Man or someone cool like that?’
“But, now that I’ve graduated to becoming a senior Avenger, he’s like, ‘Mom. You’re cool now.'”
