This case has weighed heavily on so many hearts, and now the man at the center of a very public swirl of suspicion is finally speaking out.
An Arizona man who was detained in the middle of last month after a dramatic SWAT raid in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, is adamantly denying any involvement in the ongoing case.

Luke Daley, 37, found himself thrust into a nightmare back on February 13 when armed officers descended on the Tucson home he shares with his 77-year-old mother. The house sits just two miles from where Nancy vanished in the early morning hours of February 1.
Daley and his mother were held for hours while authorities executed search warrants. They were later released without charges. But in the court of public opinion, the damage had already begun.
In a new interview with True Crime Arizona host Briana Whitney released on Monday, Daley broke his silence for the very first time. He said he believes law enforcement focused on him after social media users began speculating that he resembled the masked, armed individual captured on Nest doorbell footage the night Nancy disappeared.
When told that some people think he is the man in the chilling video, Daley did not mince words. He said:
“It’s not me. I don’t see the resemblance of it looking like me. Absolutely not. I have nothing to do with this case.”
He went on to express frustration with how quickly online whispers can spiral into something far more serious:
“Someone says something and then they just go off of it based on no evidence, no truth.”
The backdrop to all this remains deeply troubling. As we’ve been covering, Nancy was reported missing early last month after failing to join friends for a virtual church service. Authorities later revealed that her doorbell camera had been disconnected in the early morning hours of the day she vanished. Surveillance footage later showed a masked man carrying a gun on her porch in the hours leading up to it, and then, at 2:28 a.m. on the morning she went missing, her pacemaker was disconnected from its app on her phone.
Law enforcement has said they believe she was taken against her will. And yet despite an intense investigation and national attention, there have been no solid leads.

Meanwhile, Daley insists he has no idea who is responsible — and says he shares the same hope as the rest of the community:
“I, like everyone else, just want Nancy to come home and be safe.”
At the time of the search, Daley’s attorney, Chris Scileppi, confirmed that two search warrants were issued and served on February 13. In a statement, the lawyer emphasized that neither Daley nor his mother were arrested and that his client has no connection to the case:
“Daley and his mother were both detained by law enforcement while the search warrants were being executed. Neither Daley nor his mother were arrested in connection to this case or any other. Daley has no link whatsoever to Nancy Guthrie and has no information related to her kidnapping. Like the entire Tucson community, both Daley and his mother are hopeful that Nancy will be returned to her family unharmed.”
