Is Margot Robbie still playing Harley Quinn? The actress speaks on if she’s currently set to return to her iconic DC Universe role in an upcoming project.
For as much as some oldheads might hate it, if there was any “face” of the old DC Universe, it was Harley Quinn. The character had as many appearances in the franchise as major players like Batman and Superman. Margot Robbie’s electrifying performance as the character also shot their relevance to new heights, with the villain becoming a true cultural icon all on her own.
This has left many to wonder if Margot Robbie will be making her return as the main Harley Quinn in the new DC Universe. After all, her The Suicide Squad co-stars John Cena and Viola Davis are both set to reprise their roles in the franchise’s soft reboot. Sadly, it seems as though there aren’t currently any plans for her to don the makeup once more.
“I guess I’ll find out when everyone else finds out,” Robbie told Variety “No, I’ve heard nothing.”
Who Will Play Harley Quinn In The New DC Universe?
While some fans may be disappointed that there are currently no plans for Margot Robbie to return to the role of Harley Quinn, it may be for the best. The actress reiterated a sentiment she’s long held that she hopes that Harley Quinn can join the pantheon of DC Universe characters like Batman and Superman, where multiple actors can take on the mantle following her time as the villainess.
“You can’t get sick of Harley. I love her so deeply. I always had high hopes for her, like Batman – a character that lives on long after I’ve had a go at it.”
There’s currently no word on who may or may not be taking over the role of Harley Quinn from Margot Robbie. Though given the character’s popularity, it likely won’t be long until they make their return on the silver screen of the DC Universe. Perhaps they’ll even finally be able to properly face off with Batman this time!
