Australian children’s entertainer Marty Morton has died aged 82 following a long battle with cancer.
Morton was known for his infectious stage presence, becoming a regular on shows such as The Super Flying Fun Show and Hey Hey It’s Saturday.
The news of his death was confirmed on Facebook by his son, Terry.
“It is with great sadness that my first post in a very long time, is to let you know that my father, Marty (Darrell) Morton passed away on the morning of Friday Sept 6,” Terry wrote.

“He almost made it to 83. I love him and will miss him big time.”
He also shared the details of the memorial service to be held on Monday September 16, “If you can, please dress bright and happy with even a touch of cringe if you feel the need. (It’s dad remember!).”
Morton had a career in showbusiness for over 50 years, starting out as a stage performer and ventriloquist.
He was born in England in 1941 before moving to Australia at a young age, where he kicked off his career in the spotlight.

Morton became a familiar face on television, appearing in popular shows such as Division 4, The Restless Years, All Saints, Spyforce and The Young Doctors.
He appeared in one episode of the 2012 show Puberty Blues, as well as performing along some big names such as Hug Weaving and Georgie Parker
His unforgettable contributions to Aussie entertainment were recognised by the Australian Entertainment Mo Awards, where he took home the crown for Versatile Variety Act of the Year in 1982, 1983, and 1986.

Friends of Morton have flocked to Facebook to share tributes and memories with the beloved entertainer.
“Marty Morton was a constant in my life, having worked alongside our mum on The Super Flying Fun Show, he was the funniest guy around,” wrote friend Katrina Medina.
“Only up to a fortnight ago, he was in hospital and doing it so tough, yet he was still messaging me his hilarious jokes. Rest well Farty, thanks for your kindness and warmth, but most of all, thanks for the laughs!”
